Adrian Catherall

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend but there can be few men on the Wirral who know more about them than Adrian Catherall.

Adrian, a family man from the Wirral, has been designing and creating jewellery at Catherall’s Diamonds, the family jewellery business on Mill Lane, Wallasey since 1981. The business was founded 60 years ago by his father and Adrian still has fond childhood memories of Saturday mornings spent tinkering with gems and bits of Gold in the shop and watching his father at work.

A talent for art and design and a natural aptitude for metalwork proved a perfect grounding for following in his father’s footsteps but it’s Adrian’s knowledge of Diamonds that has helped to establish Catheralls’ reputation as Diamond merchants par excellence.
“Engagement rings are a speciality, with some amazing designs to choose from” says Adrian. “We work closely with our clients to help them choose the perfect diamond and ring mount for this special occasion. We also have a very comprehensive collection of diamond and plain wedding rings in many different styles and configurations.”
“I personally source our diamonds from all around the world” he says. “Over the years I’ve built up a network of international contacts, particularly in places such as Russia, Antwerp, India, Australia, China and the USA.”
“We can source pretty much whatever the client wants, from a classic 1 carat White Diamond through to the rarest coloured Diamonds such as Yellow, Pink, Red Blue and Green Diamonds.”

These precious stones can then be set into rings of Platinum or White or Yellow Gold - or lovingly hand-crafted into bespoke pieces of jewellery for that unique gift. “Our clients come to us not just for the quality of our diamonds, but for the very personal attention we give them. Nothing is a problem, we take time listening to what they want and go out of our way to create it.
“I personally design most of the bespoke pieces we sell and much of the manufacturing is done here on the premises. Whether you want a simple diamond solitaire starting at around £600 or to have the stone from a family heirloom piece re-set into a modern design, we can do it.”

o what is it that makes Diamonds so enduringly special? “Diamonds are the hardest material known to man, and some are as old as the Earth itself “ says Adrian. “I think it’s that combination of beauty and rarity that has made them an expression of love from one person to another since the days of the ancient Egyptians. They can also be a very wise investment in these uncertain economic times.”

So, more than just a girls best friend, it looks like Diamonds really are … for ever.

Client Feedback ...

Great to have such a great jewellers in Liverpool. I bought I diamond engagement ring from their store recently and they gave me such a personal service – thank you Mr Catherall! I’ll be returning soon to get some earrings for the wife’s birthday!

Mr Stanton, Liverpool.

Popped over to look at their jewellery from Manchester and was very impressed with their range of rings and the knowledge of their staff. And they certainly know their diamonds.
